I'm a Midwestern kid, and I'm proud of it. We've been raised to finish what we start, live intentionally, and put function first. We value usefulness and logic. And I got to be pretty good at it. But against the advice of guidance counselors and grandmothers, I didn't go into science or engineering.
I was the art kid. The finish-your-math-test-and-doodle-on-the-back kid. I wanted to put the world in a logical order, but I wanted to do it in a beautiful way. For almost two decades I've made a home in design—in some form or another—coupling my love for clear purpose and elegant aesthetics.
